I had lunch at Gilead Cafe last Saturday, June 4th. As it was a very nasty cold and wet day, I ordered a bowl of minestroni soup and bread without looking at the price or the menu. What arrived was a small bowl of water with some beans thrown in. The bread was good - 4 large pieces (no warning that one order was enough for two people) and some dip. Minestrone $9.00 and Bread $3.00. For a bowl of lousy soup and bread, the bill was $13.56. By the way, no service. You have to pick up your water and cutlery and they yell your name out when you order is ready and plonk it on your table. Only could this happen in Toronto. I hate being ripped off.
